William Thornton Shiells (12 January 1875 - 17 July 1940) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life

His father was Robert Thornton Shiells (14 February 1833 - 24 May 1902), an artist and architect from Haddington.
His mother was Flora Dunlop Tait (c. 1842 - 10 December 1922) from Edinburgh. Robert and Flora married on 18 March 1864 at 9 Hope Park Terrace in Edinburgh.
William Thornton Shiells was born on 12 January 1875.[5]
He married Mary Emma Eliza Needham (28 August 1872 - 1958) from Hertford. They married in 1902 in Hendon.
