Lucy Mackenzie (29 September 1887 - 10 November 1961) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life
editHer father was Hugh John Mackenzie (4 July 1846 - 15 February 1907), a county road surveyor from Rothes in Moray.
Her mother was Isabella Lawson (c. 1849 - 6 September 1928) from Elgin. She was known as Ella and was the daughter of Alexander Lawson. Hugh and Ella married on 5 June 1877 at Brae Lossie, Elgin.[3]
Lucy Elizabeth Babbington Mackenzie was born at Springfield Cottage in Elgin on 29 September 1887.[4]
She married the Dundee artist John Daniel Revel (2 February 1884 - 25 November 1967). They married in March 1913 in Kensington, London. He later became the Director of Glasgow School of Art.
Art
editShe won the Lauder Prize in 1932.
Death
editShe died on 10 November 1961 at Churchill hospital, Oxford. Her usual address was then Lydds, Woodway Road, Blewbury, England.[5]
