Merger
editI proposed the merger of the Woodcraft page into this one. I really don't see the value in having separate pages for the 'program' and the organization. What little information is on the Woodcraft page should be part of this one. Also, for me, the term 'woodcraft' is a general term for outdoor 'scout' skills, not a term exclusely to apply to any particular program. --Emb021 17:05, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
- in their current state, yes, merge them. If they get major expansion work done (which I doubt), don't merge. Rlevse 18:41, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
I would puch for them not to me merged. There is difference with the programme and the organisation. As can be seen on the page of 'woodcraft' other organisations took parts of the programme as part of their own activities, its important that its keptuser:lloyd_rm
The foundation of Woodcraft, referred to in the first line of Woodcraft was the foundation of the Woodcraft Indians. If the articles were further differentiated into Woodcraft Indians and other woodcraft movements, then there would be reason to maintain separate pages. As is, they refer to one and the same movement. - JoeQuick
Could we not rename this page to The Woodcraft Movement? And then have it as a seperate page as the two things are different. One describes the organisation that has come out of the groups started by this movement whereas this one describes how many of the Woodcraft organisations started and how the movements came about. If people think this is wasteful then I would suggest just making sure that all the info on this page is also available on other pages and then either delete it or redirect to an ambiguation page for 'Woodcraft'. I like the idea of renaming the page "The Woodcraft Movement." I would still combine the pages. Seton's Woodcraft Indians were simply the first organization that was founded in the Woodcraft Movement. - JoeQuick
- I like the rename to "The Woodcraft Movement", leaving redirects in both articles and including them into the one with the new name. Sumoeagle179 15:56, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
May I humbly suggest that Woodcraft not only can refer to the movement, but also to the philosophy that the movement is based upon. 75.72.66.195 03:11, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Brownies
editremoving the part about woodcraft brownies being the origin of guiding brownies. This sounds like original research to me and is contrary to what is on the Brownie (Girl Guides) page —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.23.1.253 (talk) 10:30, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- There are some sources that indicate that Seton influenced the Brownie program of the Girl Scouts of America. Ther eis a new biography that may have some of this; added it to the Further reading section. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 15:12, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- http://www.girlguidingnorfolkheritage.org.uk/uniforms/index.php I found a source that shows the name for Brownie Guides was suggested in 1915 six years before the woodcraft indian brownies —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.23.125.135 (talk) 07:35, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
