Images "not approved by site"

Several images were removed from article with the explanation that they were "not approved by site". Does this mean that an editor from GoAnimate is attempting to control content of this page? If so, that is contrary to Wikipedia policy. If an explanation isn't forthcoming, I'll add the images back in. Deli nk (talk) 12:33, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

@Deli nk: I went ahead and did it for you. This specific subject (GoAnimate) is susceptible to all sorts of misinformation and nonsense by kids that are heavy into children's television. The reason why is that, as Wikipedia says, it is targeted towards business people, "designed to allow business people with no background in animation to quickly and easily create animated videos", but the audience it actually has is... astonishing. Just take a look. Even add "grounded", "dead meat", "held back", "nappies", the list goes on, to the search bar. That's why I feel as though this page should be indefinitely semi-protected, but there's unfortunately no reason for that as things stand. Zeke Essiestudy (talk) 19:15, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
Heck, today, an IP tried restoring a revision they deliberately preferred that was baseless (speculating the site would move to HTML5 with no proof) and had insignificant details (such as the Facebook login button being removed) that did not benefit the article, and it was also 4 months outdated. :/ Zeke Essiestudy (talk) 19:27, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

Grounded videos - explanation about Alvin Hung and the editing changes

GoAnimate can be a matter of subjects of controversies, example, grounded videos were made almost six years if you wanna look at the grounded videos. I think what's kinda suspicious is that every single one of them keeps editing the page saying that "Alvin Hung must die", or "GROUNDED" with around 1000 repeated lines, or simply defunct in 2017. Alvin Hung kinda received a ton of death threats by many other users and gets blamed. Look up grounded videos. It'll explain why GoAnimate had some hypothesis about these videos for further investigation.

GoAnimate just released its new video maker that features faster loading and an enhanced UI. The new video maker includes a streamlined layout, a redesigned timeline, and the "Contemporary Style." This update also features an enhanced right-click menu, quick access folders, and sharing features. More information: http://go.goanimate.com/New-Videomaker-Resource-Center.html

I believe this is a significant change to the application that should be reflected in this article. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zac Romick (talkcontribs) 16:03, 28 February 2018 (UTC)

Is Vyond shutting down?

The two above discussions are claiming two separate things, and I do not know which to believe. Can someone find a source for this? RteeeeKed (talk) 01:35, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

This page has been subject to a number of hoax attempts. The person you see claiming a shutdown above is the same person I was responding to earlier. They provided zero source for the claim... or for any claim they've ever made in their few edits on Wikipedia. There's no reason to believe what they've posted. You can check Vyond's own blog and see no such announcement there, just business as usual. --Nat Gertler (talk) 01:49, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
Thank you, but maybe you should've made your discussion below the one that is directly above it. RteeeeKed (talk) 02:12, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

Vyond Shutdown

On June 1, 2020, Vyond announced that it's going to shutdown due to the end-of-life of Adobe Flash. It was planned to be retired on December 31, 2020, so everything associated with Vyond along with this website will be gone for good. That means within the next year, no one can go to Vyond and make animations. No videos, no characters, no text, nothing. We're really going to miss Vyond so much... We won't forget this website and I bet this is the best... After all the memories we have, it was great, but we're sad to see him go. THIS IS NOT A HOAX, THIS IS ACTUALLY REAL — Preceding unsigned comment added by PGGF5000 (talkcontribs) 17:00, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

  • I think Vyond uses HTML5 now. Why would they shut down? RteeeeKed (talk) 01:38, 28 June 2020 (UTC)
  • Note: The user claiming the shutdown has been blocked for vandalizing other pages (notably claiming a made up fixed end date to the current pandemic), so y'all can feel free to ignore what he was claiming here. --Nat Gertler (talk) 00:15, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
  • I've checked Vyond's website and I haven't saw any banner that said it was going to shutdown because of the end of Flash, Vyond was futureproofing around 5 years ago (although with the side-effects of death threats from kids). --Chazpelo (talk) 23:11, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Vyond's most earliest name.

Forgive me if I get this wrong, but, there was one of the earliest names for GoAnimate, it has been already explained on YouTube, but it's establishment was on August 30, 2006, it did not become GoAnimate up until later in 2007. The earlier name was AniFire.

Kade Klodt (talk) 13:12, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

Source? RThreeKed (talk) 22:09, 14 March 2020 (UTC)

The user seems to be referring to a video named "GoAnimate's Beta Server Found! It's called... WHAT?!", however, this is the only video talking about the so-called "AniFire" thing, and it was made by a random GoAnimater. I don't believe in this AniFire thing. --Chazpelo (talk) 23:16, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

example shows

An IP editor has been repeatedly replacing the names of the examples of things Grounded videos are based on. All of the changes have been without source, and in some cases they have replaced the names of shows with the names of characters from the same show. Their work has been reverted by multiple editors, so there's clearly not consensus. These changes should not continue without reaching some consensus here on the talk page. --Nat Gertler (talk) 18:38, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

To what I observe, most of the Grounded videos are basically children's TV shows that are aimed mainly at children 2-6. Arthur doesn't really count too much as babyish, since it may be more comedic and most children like that show. But still, I've been hearing characters being "grounded" for (whatever number mostly spitting out random digits) years.Allan Bao (talk) 17:27, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Oh yes, I feel like 3 examples are more notable since these three shows, Caillou, Dora, and Little Bill, are the most common. But Arthur doesn’t really count since this goes with children’s shows that are explicitly aimed mainly preschoolers.68.197.54.51 (talk) 11:08, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

Grounded videos

Honestly, I don't think we should be adding the grounded videos section back at all. That section barley says anything about Vyond. All it says are about how this grounding works and how long it is, punishment's, and crying and screaming. Also, some IP users have added it back without even adding a source. The only where it says things related to Vyond is the 1st line and the bottom line. So, it shouldn't be added back, as it barley says anything about Vyond and no sources are being re-added for it. 🍓⋆JennilyW♡🍧 (talk) 21:55, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

Actually, I'm just going to add it back with sources and remove the off topic stuff. 🍓⋆JennilyW♡🍧 (talk) 21:57, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

Actually, ignore my comment above of this one. I realized that the Ground Videos wont get re-added since there off topic and no sources are being added for it. 🍓⋆JennilyW♡🍧 (talk) 20:31, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

I have added it back in its form that it had one year ago, when it did have a source. It may need paring back down to the material covered in the source, but the coverage looks sufficient for inclusion, and geek.com is a source that has been relied on elsewhere and survived the one time that concern was raised about it at WP:RSN. --Nat Gertler (talk) 02:01, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
I should note a very odd little conflict of interest here. Only after I reposted it did I realize that the article used as reference was written by K. Thor Jensen, with whom I have a slight business relationship: I have paid him royalties on a comics story reprinted in an anthology I published about 17 years back. I wasn't the one to introduce this source, merely to restore it, but in the interest of utter transparency, I thought I ought to note it. (The world is strange and small.) --Nat Gertler (talk) 00:08, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

@JennilyW and NatGertler: As an uninvolved editor, I am unfortunately minded to recommend the removal of the grounded videos section at this time, due to the whole thing depending on one Internet Gutter post, amid a lack of significant coverage. Running the search term "goanimate/vyond" "grounded/grounding" -site:fandom.com -site:youtube.com" in DuckDuckGo returned nothing of use, in my opinion, to establish notability. In Talk:Techmoan, I had to advise that there needed to be more third party sources for it to withstand article deletion attempts. --Minoa (talk) 08:20, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

@Minoa: I removed it. 🦁⋆JennilyW♡🦌 (talk) 19:24, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
