Relation between Iran and Transoxiania

edit

After Temurids, Iran and Transoxiania were separate. During the early Qajar era, Iran had some claims on Merv and the surrounding area, but not on Khwarazm and Transoxiania. Akhal treaty didn't separate Transoxiania from Iran (Transoxiania and Iran were already separate at that time). Alefbe (talk) 06:02, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Inaccurate claims

edit

Iran was unable to mount much of a defense, and Geok Tepe fell shortly.

Why would Iran even mount "much of a defense"? I. A. Zinov'ev, the Russian officer in Persia, had obtained Persia's full-fledged support in securing the logistics of the Russian campaign. Roknwoddellah, the brother of the Shah, was lavished with favors and even put in charge of base camps! Qajar Persia had been sort of a Russian client-state since the Treaty of Turkmenchay.

The immobilized Naser al-Din Shah Qajar was compelled to accept nominal defeat.

Huh? The Shah expressed relief at Russian victory and congratulated them. TrangaBellam (talk) 13:43, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Doubts

edit

Was the "secret agreement" — concerning the boundary between Baba Dormaz and the Sarakhs — signed the same day? I doubt this because this involved the Qajar Shah mapping the terrains. TrangaBellam (talk) 14:17, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
