Removal of material
editI have removed a large amount of material from this article, because it was supported by non-reliable sources. These were opinion pieces, sometimes mis-labeled as being news articles. The various claims made ("many rabbis", "used by scholars" and so on) were not in any way shown by these sources.
Please do not restore any material unless it is supported by actual WP:reliable sources. Opinions must be ascribed to the opinion holder, and some evidence presented that that person is, in fact, qualified to have that opinion presented on Wikipedia. Do not insert material lsimply because you believe that material to be true, that is not sufficient for use on Wikipedia. All material on Wikipedia must be verifiable and supported by citations from reliable sources, Information which is not so supported may be removed from the article at any time.
Propose merge with Second Holocaust
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- To not merge on the grounds that the topics are sufficiently distinct and large to warrant separate discussion. Klbrain (talk) 17:18, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
The two articles are about largely they same thing, even if they refer to slightly different phrasings. SomethingForDeletion (talk) 19:26, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support: Contents seem pretty similar, though the section on abortion should be moved somewhere else. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 21:04, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support merge. Abortion content not relevant to Judaism shouldn't be on an article which is about the Jewish use of the term; may be worth mentioning at the Silent Holocaust disambiguation page. – GnocchiFan (talk) 16:09, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose because Silent Holocaust (Judaism) is mainly about the silent "killers" of assimilation and intermarriage by Jews such as in the USA, like "carbon monoxide" poisoning while Second Holocaust is mainly about threats to Israel's existence as a Jewish state and it is NOT "silent" as there are plenty of very NOISY wars about it as in the Arab–Israeli conflict. The two topics are very different phenomena. IZAK (talk) 02:21, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- oppose - These two concepts seem to describe almost opposite situations? albeit with similar results. There should be a "see also" or "not to be confused with" at the top, but no merge. Irtapil (talk) 21:28, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose in strongest possible way - if anything, it's this article that should be proposed for merge with Silent Holocaust (Judaism)--౪ Santa ౪99° 11:16, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. Two separate and distinct concepts. Not appropriate for merging. Coretheapple (talk) 21:49, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- I agree Second Holocaust has a broader scope. However, content on Silent Holocaust (Judaism) seems to match quite closely the scope of Jewish assimilation. The idea of this being silent is could be discussed with the context of assimilation, including assimilation by marriage. Klbrain (talk) 13:50, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose merger. The term "Silent Holocaust (Judaism)" refers more specifically to Jewish assimilation, whereas "Second Holocaust" refers more specifically to the physical genocide (Murder) of the Jewish people. These are two different concepts.Davidbena (talk) 14:43, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
- oppose, they are simply not the same thing. Josethewikier (talk) 06:04, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
