sorry I am quite new at editing-- am a quite a good editor but if I am against convention please help me out.

The section of comparisons, the railway wayleave is not just an an analogy-- BR definitely used their wayleave and communication network to attempt to get into generaly telelphony (as opposed to just telephone systems).

BICC, who I worked for, made some products to attempt to use similar wayleaves which exist on the electricity network (i.e. overtrung cables from pylons) to superimpose fast comms using vibre optic inter- or over- wound with the cable, or by using high frequency AC that would not be affected by the mains frequency.

This is not an attemptd at an extension to the section, I should be pleased to hear your views and I will provide a first draft with more detail if you think worth it SimonTrew (talk) 20:35, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[email protected]Reply

I think the comparison being drawn is not with the physical or local implementation, but the Wild West nature of floating companies that may or may not be substantial, and might or might not make a fortune for "retail" investors.
Any editing work from somone who has in-depth knowledge about a topic is welcome -- this article isn't particularly well written -- and I hope that you will not be deterred from using your expertise to improve articles within your area of knowledge. this particular article is very railway-specific, though, and may not be your home territory. Nevertheless it badly needs some work on it. H G Lewin wrote a book, "The Railway Mania and its Aftermath" which has been reprinted since WW2 and is available second hand, and would be a good starting point. Good luck.
