- Merger proposal abandoned when I realized that the two agencies weren't being merged together, but rather, the two agencies were renamed[1]

I propose to merge Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency into National Energy Board, which would be renamed Canadian Energy Regulator, consistent with WP:CommonName and in accordance with Wikipedia:Merging, particularly in light of news today that the combined federal agency, the Canadian Energy Regulator[1] officially came in to being as of today's date and was given statutory effect. National Energy Board → Canadian Energy Regulator – Following the coming into force of the applicable statute that saw the Canadian Energy Regulator replace the National Energy Board, on the advice of Brad, I opted to pursue a WP:RM#CM discussion to decide on the best name to use. On WP:ON, this seems appropriate. Additionally, the WP:ON is likely to be the commonly used name. On the other hand, we may want to keep this page, coding it as defunct, and then creating a stub for the new Canadian Energy Regulator. Doug Mehus (talk) 17:40, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose for now. No evidence has been presented that "Canadian Energy Regulator" is the WP:COMMONNAME - only speculation that it's "likely to be" (eventually?). Based on a brief news search, it seems like this is too soon. Very recent RS articles often uses both names (noting the recent name change). Some sources still just use the old name (example). Let's wait a bit until it's clear that the common name has changed. There's WP:NODEADLINE. Colin M (talk) 01:39, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- Support. Current title is too generic. Hyperbolick (talk) 20:31, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per Colin M and WP:NAMECHANGES. If evidence is later shown that the name has really changed in common usage then we can make the move then, but no need for now. — Amakuru (talk) 15:11, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
