Talk:Malfunction (parachuting)

The term Malfunction covers far more than Parachutes.

I agree (obviously). This article probably just needs to be put in the proper context. Danielx 08:47, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
How about moving it to "Malfunction (parachuting)" or some other page on parachuting safety? I don't know anything about the subject, so I don't know what's most appropriate. Joshua Davis 14:01, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
The disambuigation page to accompany this seems to be missing... 213.112.81.229 (talk) 19:31, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I found a number of videos showing a malfunction called "step through", but could not find an explanation (also not on dropzone). It would be nice to have some explanation for this malfunction. 213.211.200.15 (talk) 09:18, 20 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Very Technical

This article as written for people intimately familiar with all matters regarding parachutes. A link to a diagram of the various ropes and described parachute malfunctions etc. might help those not familiar with parachuting. Mmn1803 (talk) 11:51, 3 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

The reason I came to this page: At the very end of the movie Dead Reckoning with Humphrey Bogart (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0039305/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk), a parachute viewed from above seems to inexplicably malfunction. In the movie, this is meant to signify the death of a character, but the malfunction didn't seem to make any sense: the parachute was fully deployed, but then the canopy folded up like an inside-out umbrella. (I'm sorry that I do not know the correct terminology.). I wanted to learn more about this to see if it was a real thing that was experienced by paratroopers, or just a movie fantasy.

I say all of this to perhaps explain what I was hoping to read on this page. It seems that a lot of hard work was put into this page, but sadly, I wasn't able to find what I was looking for. Mmn1803 (talk) 12:09, 3 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
