II World War section
editHello Wikipedians,
while I cannot comment on the correctness of the content of the new section "Collaboration with Nazi Germany and Magirus' role in the Holocaust", for me the connection to Magirus seems unclear from the provided information. Additionally, much of the text seems to be related to the general topic of gas vans in WWII. I would suggest to edit this section and keep it focused on a possible relation with Magirus, if existent. Personally, I am not an expert on either of these topics.

- "Magirus had some involvement in World War II and The Holocaust, producing gas vans used for killing Jews."
- The statement above is wrong on so many levels. Its a shame wikipedia has no better quality standards. First of all, it lacks a citation. The quote above leaves the impression, that Magirus themselves produced "gas vans" and therefore had an active role in the holocaust. I never came across that information in all the literature I know on that topic. "Gas van" was no factory option! The Reichssicherheitshauptamt converted existing truck chassis for that purpose, with bodywork from the Gaubschat factory. The known truck brands, that were used and mentioned in the literature are Opel Blitz, Sauerer and Diamond. There is a series of pictures from Chelmno, showing a Magirus furniture moving truck, that was suspected to be a gas van. But according to the source at the "Office of the United States Chief Counsel for Prosecution of Axis Criminality", the pictured van showed no modification for that purpose. Its even stated at the wikipedia article, covering that topic. HZ322540 (talk) 16:53, 27 April 2024 (UTC)
