The characteristics section incorrectly states that Luigi's first appearance was in the arcade Mario Bros., when it should be for the Game & Watch. Additionally, Luigi's confirmed girlfriend is Courtney Gibbs, according to "French": [1] Additionally, Luigi's family also includes Maria (aunt), Luigeena (aunt), Mia Mario (grandmother), Mia Mario (mother), Luigeena (cousin), Marianne (cousin), Marilyn (niece), Mario Joe (cousin), Luigi Bob (cousin), and Tony (uncle). Luigi also had starring roles in the television episodes "Quest for Pizza," "Life's Ruff," and "Mama Luigi." Robot Chicken and Ennuigi are also not official, so they must removed! Luigi was born in Brooklyn, New York, not the Mushroom Kingdom! 2600:1700:1595:8210:9C90:E205:FB6D:5301 (talk) 02:58, 24 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please note that, in addition to the concerns already noted, that some passing dialogue in a a slapstick cartoon from the 90s is not necessarily the authority on a decade and media spanning fictional character. Sergecross73 msg me 14:36, 24 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Origin of luigi's name

edit

The source for the idea that Luigi's name comes from Mario and Luigi's pizza isn't reputable. The source provides no evidence for the claim, and all other references to the claim appear to just come back here. In addition to this I cannot find any data supporting the idea that the pizza place ever existed. I think that until actual evidence can be provided to this claim it should be removed. Supertrzup1 (talk) 01:37, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, actually you're probably right. Arcade Museum isn't on the master reliable source list, and doesn't look particularly reliable/professional at first glance either. Sergecross73 msg me 01:52, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Luigi's full name is 'Luigi Mario' not 'Luigi'

sources:

""As for Luigi, he’s “Luigi Mario”."" https://getnews.jp/archives/1144379 https://www.kotaku.com.au/2020/09/mario-luigi-surname-mario-bros/amp/ https://nintendoeverything.com/miyamoto-says-marios-full-name-is-mario-mario/ 86.14.84.70 (talk) 19:17, 10 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not done: I'm hesitant to perform this request. getnews.jp is a foreign source that I cannot evaluate. While Kotaku is reliable per WP:VG/RS the Kotaku article leans on Nintendo Everything quite a bit which is unreliable per WP:VG/RS. Kotaku also cites Charles Martinet making the claim in a YouTube video but YouTube videos aren't accepted as sources, especially when not from an officially tagged account, and Charles Martinet wouldn't be the authority on his name. Further investigation shows there is apparent confusion as the claim of his last name being Mario is due to the 1993 film wherein the producers made his name that. The confusion is further perpetuated as allegedly back in 2012 the last name being Luigi Mario was explicitly denied by Nintendo.
I digress, with the sources given, I don't think I can confidently make that his full name. Another editor is free to be like Sirdog, you are being silly and implement it freely, though. I am known for silliness. —Sirdog (talk) 01:08, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Under Concept and Creation, in the last paragraph, is the sentence "in the previously mentioned anime he wore a yellow shirt, a blue hat, and blue overalls and the color of his hat and overalls were blue."

Please change this to "in the previously mentioned anime he wore a yellow shirt, a blue hat, and blue overalls." since it sounds more like a real sentence. Purplemontart (talk) 16:53, 1 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Dark Brown Shoes Listed Under Characteristics

edit

I am suggesting that a part should be added in for Luigi having dark brown shoes in the characteristics because he has been seen in games, media, and artwork from across the Super Mario franchise having darker shoes than Mario's light brown pair. Article needs to be entirley rewritten from scratch

edit

Hi. I would like to leave this message to remind everyone that the article is seriously not in good shape and needs to be rewritten. It has already been tagged for rewrite and there's no explanation yet on this talk page. The article is not updated, Having only 30 sources unlike most Mario characters like Bowser and Yoshi who are also tagged for rewrite and I will do those another day. The article is also missing the character's reception which is extremely important for almost every single character that has a Wikipedia article. I hope this article will be completely rewritten and will one day meet GA standards. Thank You. 50.100.46.100 (talk) 01:04, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yes of course I'm aware of the absentee of Luigi's reception and the many useless sources used in the article. I also put a to-do list for Luigi if you look at the top of the article, but seriously other than the characteristics section which actually at least in good quality, everything in this article needs to blow up and start all over. NatwonTSGTALK 01:21, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Since the article is in bad shape, Can you now start rewriting it yourself. Hundred's of reliable sources exist for Luigi. 50.100.46.100 (talk) 01:26, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
And that takes significant time and effort. Many editors are busy with other projects, and Luigi is a topic that will take very in-depth research and time many editors do not have. The article needs a rewrite, but that should not be something editors are forced to do. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 13:54, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Design comparison image?

edit

Should an image be added comparing the old design of Luigi, with the blue shirt/green overalls, with his current design, with the green shirt/blue overalls? NintenBOUND (talk) 00:14, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

No, I don't think so because the original design of Luigi isn't as popular as the current one and the fact that the original design is already used for the characteristics section. NatwonTSGTALK 16:44, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
No. You don't need a non-free image to say that the color was different. The less non-free images in our articles, the better. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 19:54, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Luigi Mangione

edit

Considering the memefication of Mangione with Luigi, I think it can be argued that a sentence of inclusion under legacy is warranted, but I'd like consensus first. Electricmaster (talk) 02:57, 12 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

This could easily be a case of Wikipedia:ONEEVENT with no Wikipedia:SUSTAINED coverage, so I'd wait before including anything related to Mangione. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 14:30, 12 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
