Article name

edit

I would have merged Holm of Midgarth into Linga Holm myself... Midgarth is a place on a neighbouring island AFAIK, giving its name to the "Holm of M" --MacRusgail (talk) 21:55, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough, but would you intend to create a new article or dab page for Midgarth? If anything should redirect to Linga Holm it would be 'Holm of Midgarth'. Ben MacDuiTalk/Walk 15:48, 23 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Knowe

Removed "including a prehistoric subterranean structure or knowe. This knowe has been likened to a similar ancient structure at Caithness and to the Castle Bloody souterrain on Shapinsay.

It is not 100% clear but I believe the Midgarth referred to is the one on Mainland Orkney near Tingwall. Ben MacDuiTalk/Walk 15:48, 23 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

MidgarthLinga Holm – Although Linga Holm may be the Norse name, it looks like it is the WP:COMMONAME in English. The Ordnance Survey uses Linga Holm, although it doesn't appear to nessesarrily use English names eg Orasaigh[1] v Orosay. Although a Google search returns 6,350 results for "Linga Holm" v 11,100 for Midgarth, this could be because it appears to be a dictionary word. Gazetteer for Scotland also uses Linga Holm. The title Linga Holm has significant edit history so maybe a title swap may be a good idea if this is done. Crouch, Swale (talk) 13:40, 5 November 2018 (UTC)--Relisting.
