@NawlinWiki:, I disagree with the proposed deletion of this article. The cited sources indicate that Limberbutt has already gotten the required significant coverage in reliable sources such as NPR. It has also gotten international coverage in the Malaysian Digest. Although his candidacy may have started as a joke, it is turning into a semi-serious movement for election reform. Other non-humans who have ran elected office in the past, like Pigasus (politics), Bosco the dog, Dustin the Turkey, Stubbs (cat), Ed the Sock, and many, many more have been considered notable. Given the way things like Facebook and Twitter operate, Limberbutt's tweets and Facebook page are gaining likes rapidly, and he is rapidly turning into an internet meme much like Grumpycat and Lil Bub.
In the Internet age, it is not surprising that a few news stories have decided to run a funny piece about a cat. However, this does not meet the threshold for notability, particularly for politicians. Limberbutt does not reach the notability of any of the animals you listed and can eb easily distinguished. Pigasus' notability stems more from his conduct at the 1968 convention rather than his status as a candidate. Bosco the dog actually won and served as honorary mayor for 13 years. Dustin the Turkey (not a real turkey, by the way) is a character, television personality, and musician. Stubbs, like Bosco, has served honorary mayor since 1997 and is essentially a tourist attraction, and Ed the sock, like Dustin, is a fictional character and television personality for many years. The only claim to fame for Limberbutt is that some paperwork has been filed out on his behalf, which doesn't come close to reaching notability. --Vrivasfl (talk) 19:34, 10 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
