I'm not sure when I'll get to a Virginia reference library, so I'm mentioning a few gaps in this article. I made changes clarifying his different terms in the Virginia House of Delegates, but his predecessor and successors should be named. Also, IMHO his slaveholdings should be researched and mentioned. His younger brother William lived in what became West Virginia (along the same corridor between Chambersburg and Staunton), and his slaveholdings or wartime participation might show a "house divided" or highlight the economic interests which led to the war (slaveownership was illegal in Pennsylvania by this time). I'm not sure exactly when this Harper served on VMI's Board of Visitors, so haven't included that. Also, it's odd that findagrave gives his son as George Kenton Harper (1829-1898, who isn't mentioned in this article but buried in the same cemetery as his man) while the article says Samuel was his only son and is buried at a different cemetery.Jweaver28 (talk) 10:50, 5 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
