Since it's a 1924 map, I"m pretty sure it's not older than 1923.MarkinBoston 19:01, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Map

edit

We need a map of the pond, that also delineates the watershed that feeds it, and any source streams.

Is there any connection between Jamaica Pond (source of Muddy River) and Stony Brook, which is fed by Turtle Pond, which was called Muddy Pond?

The book "Water resources and the urban environment, lower Charles River Watershed" (ISBN:1428983651) can be accessed online at google boook search. Page 23 has a partial watershed map, showing that Muddy River and Stony Brook are separate watersheds. There is a table on page 25 that shows that Muddy River drains 4005 acres, and Stony Brook drains 8393 acres. This is hard to believe, or understand without a good map. Presumably most of the Muddy River watershed drainage passes through Jamaica Pond.

Mark Bulger at stonybrookinboston.blogspot.com has gathered a large collection of historic material and current field research, "Stony Brook - Gone But Not Forgotten". He says that Turtle Pond is one source of Stony Brook, which has been greatly manipulated over the last centuries, but does end up in the Charles, separate from Muddy River. And that Stony Brook does not feed Mother Brook and the Neponset, even though based and nearness on maps it would look like they would be likely to connect. -69.87.199.7 (talk) 14:02, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Park?

edit

The 2nd sentence of the article says "pond and park," without identifying the latter. This article is about a "Pond". What "park" is being talked about?
