Yet another RM request

edit

Someone is again requesting that Georgia (Country) be moved to Georgia. Given that it would impact this page, I think it's worth mentioning here. See the discussion here. -- RockstoneSend me a message! 04:45, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Move discussion in progress

edit

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:State of Georgia (disambiguation) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 03:50, 23 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Is U.S. really necessary?

edit

Yes, there’s two Georgias. However, the other Georgia is a country, not a state. A state is not a country, meaning there’s only one thing that could be logically referred to as a state. Unless there’s another country with a state system and a Georgia, then it’s an unnecessary disambiguation. If there is, I congratulate Georgia on her successful mitosis. However, in case some people say this is too ambiguous, in the interest of maximum clarity so nobody gets confused, I think the name “Georgia, the Fourth Constitutional State of the United States of America (not the country)” would suffice as an alternative. The term "state" also often refers to a country, i.e. state (polity) and sovereign state. Thus, "Georgia (state)" is still ambiguous. Loytra (talk) 10:13, 2 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
The name “Georgia, the Fourth Constitutional State of the United States of America (not the country)” would not be the right way to go. First off, the average person would say "Georgia, the state," or "Georgia, the U.S. state," if they are referring to Georgia (U.S. State). Second the "(not the country)" part is unnecessary, since it was just said that "Georgia" is in the "United States of America," debunking that, or a person may think that the U.S. is not a country. I'm not trying to insult you, but this proposed name change is unnecessary. Codename Abrix (talk) 19:19, 19 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

US State

edit

I’m confused why the title of this article has "(U.S. State)" when articles for other states don’t have this?? 76.170.147.28 (talk) 06:52, 4 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Georgia's also the name of a European country as shown on its disambiguation page (which I've linked). More info can be found at Talk:Georgia. Staraction (talk | contribs) 06:54, 4 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
That makes sense. Thank you! 166.196.79.79 (talk) 00:44, 5 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
