The decline of fine art?

edit

Very confused about the meaning of that section. Do they mean the term "Fine Art" fell out of fashion, or Fine Art itself fell out of fashion?

As far as I'm aware, the 20th century has been full of famous movements with art that serves no practical or applied function. Even today there is still usage of "Fine Arts" in everyday speech is there not?

I have no idea what discipline this article is coming from, I'm studying Fine Arts and it's definitely a bit more than just a course name. In fact, I don't think many artworks made now are very pragmatic. 134.7.244.98 (talk) 09:42, 17 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Seems clear the term is meant, and that the term remains current in the art trade etc. But you won't find art historians using it much to describe the same works. Johnbod (talk) 14:41, 17 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
