Bugnion co-authored papers on operating systems and [[platform virtualization]] such as “Disco: Running Commodity Operating Systems on Scalable Multiprocessors,” in 1997.
Bugnion’s work on [[operating systems]] and [[platform virtualization]] has won awards, such as his 1997 paper, “Disco: Running Commodity Operating Systems on Scalable Multiprocessors,” co-authored with Scott Devine and Mendel Rosenblum, that won a SIGOPS Hall of Fame award in 2008; and [[VMware Workstation]] for Linux 1.0, that won an ACM Software System Award in 2009. Bugnion was elected an [[ACM Fellow]] in 2017.
He was elected as an [[ACM Fellow]] in 2017.
(move into previous paragraph)

To add in the "awards" section of the infobox:

  • ACM Software System Award 2009
  • SIGOPS Hall of Fame Award 2008

And lastly (sourced from the first reference for the sentence):

He was Vice President for Information Systems until he was appointed Vice President for Innovation and Impact starting 2025.
He was Vice President for Information Systems from 2017 to 2020, and he was appointed Vice President for Innovation and Impact starting 2025.

I feel like these proposed changes are fairly objective, notable enough, and well-sourced, but happy to discuss anything if needed.

Hi, could you please declare your conflict of interest here, as required under WP:COI.
Many thanks, Axad12 (talk) 08:11, 26 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also, do you have independent sourcing for the awards (i.e. not from the awarding body or the recipient)? Axad12 (talk) 08:32, 26 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Axad12, I see that you rolled back some of my edits due to COI and others due to missing sources. I thought I had adequate sources for most things I added (EPFL press releases etc.); is something more required? And as for COI, what would it take to approve those edits, e.g. is a review from you sufficient? Especially for summarizing existing information in an infobox and adding a picture. I removed unsourced material and material added to an article by a user with a conflict of interest.
The unsourced material was entirely unsourced and thus a violation of WP:V, especially as the material was also promotional. I didn't note exactly which users added which pieces of unsourced info (i.e. whether they were added by you or not), I simply removed it all in accordance with WP:V.
Users with a conflict of interest are advised to request edits via COI edit requests rather than to edit the affected article directly, as per WP:COI. Axad12 (talk) 07:10, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
