Merge proposal: Eastbourne Local History Society to here
editMikeo1938 created the article and Randykitty tagged it for WP:NOTABILITY. I can't see that the society meet WP:ORG or WP:GNG, but they would be worth a mention in the History section of this article. Boleyn (talk) 17:41, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
- Perhaps either mention in the History section or in a Societies section? For some other examples see Currie#Local History Society; Barningham, County Durham; Bolton, East Riding of Yorkshire; and Morgannwg (journal). However, Mundaring and Hills Historical Society merits an article on its own as do Queensland Family History Society; Pembrokeshire Historian; and Galway Archaeological and Historical Society. I don't see much consistency in approach. Headhitter (talk) 18:26, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Both merge targets sound like good options. Each historical society is looked at independently as to whether it meets WP:ORG or WP:GNG; I don't know if the ones you mention meet the guidelines or are some of the thousands of articles of doubtful notability on WP. Boleyn (talk) 07:49, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
- Checked the other articles over; if any of them meet WP:ORG or WP:GNG, it is in no way clear from their articles. All look to be non-notable, but I've tagged them for further examination. Boleyn (talk) 07:52, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
- Unless the Eastbourne Local History Society is itself particularly notable then it should be merged with the Eastbourne article. Anyone looking for a local history society in Eastbourne is more likely to find it there anyway. Headhitter (talk) 12:23, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
- Merged no objections to merge during the two weeks this discussion was open. Thanks, Headhitter, for your help. Boleyn (talk) 12:29, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
