Blatant copyright infringement
editA piece of text was copied from the Jamaica Labour Party website and pasted into this article here by User:Jamaicanbybirth at 03:24 on 17 September 2006 (compare with original text). I have reverted to the last clean revision (Revision as of 11:45, 8 August 2006 by OrphanBot). --Oden 16:06, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Deletion of homosexuality views paragraph by Golding supporters
editPlease stop deleting the paragraph. It is fully sourced and does not show judgement either way. If he holds those views, then they should be noted in the article.--Folksong 23:04, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Bruce GoldingProfile.jpg
editImage:Bruce GoldingProfile.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:22, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Prime Minister
editWhile it seems Golding's party has won the election he does not become Prime Minister until he's sworn in by the Governor-General. Please don't jump the gun. Also, the current PM is refusing to concede defeat according to press reports so it's possible she will continue as PM until her party is defeated by a vote of confidence in the Jamaican parliament or, more likely, until the recounts are completed. If and when she does concede Golding becomes Prime Minister-designate until he is sworn in. Reginald Perrin 23:58, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- Concur. You might want to post this on the talk pages for Jamaica and Politics of Jamaica, as there have been premature changes in those articles also. - BillCJ 00:09, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Copyright problem again
editAs large parts of the text of this article, starting at the "Youth & education" section were a verbatim copy from the Jamaica Labour Party website here [1], only slightly altered by subsequent edits, I have restored the last version of the article before this insertion. Then I have reinstated the information regarding the 2007 Jamaican general elections. I have also inserted the link to the JLP profile of Bruce Golding as external link. Copyvio again?
editTom13014, what is the source of the long bio you have been adding? Without proper sources, it cannot remain, especially if it is a copyvio of other material. Please cite your sources,a nd I'll be happy to help you do that if your not sure of the proper formatting. By the way, good job overall on updating the various articles today. - BillCJ 23:58, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
correct spelling of name
editIs is it Orrett, Orette or Orett? --Proper tea is theft 00:25, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Infobox
edit- The title heading usually matches the article title, and has been the consistent choice of most editors here so far.
- The "Succession" field is not for a title, but a number (7th, 8th, 9th). If you disagree with the number, remove it, but relacing it with "Prime Minister of Jamaica" does absolutely nothing to the template. The birth registration is as a ref, and not actually part of the box itself.
- Redlinks are an accepted part of Wikipedia, and should not be removed solely because they "look bad".
- You demand a full name for "Orette" and yet have a problem with "O" in "Kenneth O. Hall"? It's a direct link to his article, and the name is common enough that some disambiguation isn't a bad thing.
- Line spaces between the infobox and first paragraph are common courtesies given to editors for ease of editing. Only in rare cases do they cause an actual blank line that forces the first paragraph down, and looks bad. This is not one of those cases.
Did I miss anything? - BillCJ (talk) 00:21, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- You demand civility but comment on editors not contributions as specifically as against policy and civility. Strange. Therequiembellishere (talk) 00:34, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
First off, my comments aren't high flared, I needed to explain each of the edits in the short space the summary allows and doing that politely is hard over the internet and you didn't respond until after I undid it, so I'm sorry. Secondly, you don't have a right to tell me that I don't know how to use an infobox when I edit them more than most people here if you'd just see. Third, bringing an admin into something like this after you've pointed me as being childish seems uncivil in itself and, well, childish.
I'll reiterate my explanations for the changes:
My experience with infoboxes before and after I came here was that full names were always used at the top of the infobox.
Placing his title in the office section's only purpose is to link the deputy's section, and as their is no article to correspond as Deputy Prime Minister of Jamaica, it is redundant to use. It is also quickly become the norm to not include the numbering of a person in their offices due to confusions with people who hold the office more than once, disputed officeholders, multiple officeholders, innumerable officholders, people who contest the officeholder and acting, provisional, caretaking, interim and regent officeholders (and mixes of these) confusing the number and only end up cluttering the box. Examples that I use are Popes and the Swiss Federal Councilors and their presidents.
Hall isn't a big deal, I just don't like initials.
Commas aren't used in date put in the order on the page.
Labeling the successor as "Incumbent" is redundant due to it being in large letters directly under the title and clutters the box because of this
I use zeros before single numeral dates, that's just another quirk of mine as with Hall, but the dates are in the Commonwealth order (I don't know what exactly it's called so I'll call it this) so his birth date should so the same order for consistency. I'm not from Jamaica, but it's a Commonwealth realm, which makes it highly likely that they use this order.
Putting "Parish" if like saying that someone was born in "Glasgow City, Scotland Political Division", it's ridiculous. That why the Parish is linked where they can find this out. Putting where he was registered is something that should be incorporated into the article as something like "Though Mr Golding was born in Chapelton, his birth was registered in Ginger Ridge" because if one thing clutters an infobox, it's certainly putting where someone was registered after their birth. I'll say again: The section is "birth place" not "birth registered"
Thank you. Therequiembellishere (talk) 00:31, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Odd that you revert an editor with over 22,000 edits 10 days after he attempted to correct your mistakes, and then 2 more times in quick succession, and then get upset when he accuses you of not knowing what you're doing? Please, next time just discuss it here first, and we'll save some reverts for the real vandals. I apologize for reverting you quickly myself, including the accidental "rollback". (I'm still getting used to where it is, and there's Yes/No option on it!)
Also, I went to your talk page to give you a dierct personal note, and asked you to respond on the talk page, because that is where I was going next. I prefer to discuss particulars of articles on the articles themselves. Sorry for the deletion, but you don't follow instructions otherwise.
As to the particulars, some of your problems are with the template formating itself, not with me or the infobox on this page. Take up thoe issues there. As to the birthplace, it probably should be in the text, not the infobox, but it's not worth warring over either way. As far is "it doesn't look good", leave those things alone after someone else changes them. THe title is preference, but the consensus here has been to use the article title. - BillCJ (talk) 01:03, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks for the clarification. Which ones should I bring to the template's talk? Therequiembellishere (talk) 01:16, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

editIn europe Golding has a really bad name, because he talked against homosexual couples. He is not welcome in Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium or France. GLGermann (talk) 22:46, 5 March 2009 (UTC)he died january 15 2000
