What about Nuno Gomes?

Nuno Gomes set the World Record for cave dives in this cave, quite recently infact. Hes set a couple of records (he was my neighbour, ive seen the Guinness certificate!) for diving in places around the world [1]. Hes even got his own website![2]. Any knowleadable divers that can add to this page, maybe start a page for this awesome diver?? Incidentally, he was advisor to one of the tragic expeditions, im not sure which (I think it was the amateur Dreyer). He advised them NOT to do it, with the equipment that they had.Shado.za 08:26, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Depth and Ranking

The article says "believed to be" third deepest. (This same locution appears in almost every web article dealing with the tragedies at Bushman's Hole.) Reading the article, one naturally looks for some reference to the second and first deepest. The first seems to be in Mexico: outside.away.com, describing other cave diving deaths, mentions "American Sheck Exley, who drowned while diving the world's deepest sinkhole, Mexico's 1,080-foot-deep Zacatón, in April 1994". So that cave/sinkhole looks like it might be the deepest. But Global Underwater Explorers shows Bushman's Hole at #4 and Zacaton #2. This seems to be an area where someone with more expertise and access to reliable sources might be able to shed some light. I'm not confident that I have a definitive answer. If memory serves me correctly, the deepest measured sinkhole is Italy's "Pozzo del Merro" (-392m), followed by "Zacaton", then perhaps France's "Fontaine-de-Vaucluse". I hope that this helps. Phrygiandom (talk) 13:39, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
