Is it "Benjamin" or "Binyamin"?

edit

In the economist article it keeps referring to him as Binyamin Netanyahu so which one is it? "Benjamin" or "Binyamin"? https://www.economist.com/middle-east-and-africa/2024/09/19/israels-government-is-again-trying-to-hobble-its-supreme-court DataCrusade1999 (talk) 13:16, 24 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@DataCrusade1999 Binyamin is the Hebrew pronunciation and spelling of the name Benjamin which is where the name originates from. Netanyahu is named after the biblical figure Benjamin whose name was spelled as Binyamin. FloridaMan21 02:17, 28 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@DataCrusade1999 The economist frequently uses esoteric spellings of foreign words for some reason. I remember in a recent issue they also had a really odd spelling of Hezbollah.

Why is his birth name (Benzion Mileikowsky) not mentioned in the article?

In 1976, Netanyahu graduated near the top of his class at the MIT Sloan School of Management.[1] -> replace this source with this source (2, source 46 in the article).

Rationale: source 1 does not have the cited information. Source 2 does. 2600:6C44:117F:95BE:BDFD:4CD3:6B69:33F1 (talk) 07:52, 11 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Removed instead. Source 2 does not confirm graduation or marks, but source 1 is ambiguous on what and where. Sentence is partially redundant anyway. Alpha3031 (tc) 07:04, 16 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Alpha3031 a quote from source 2: "Without breaking stride, Mr. Netanyahu, known to his friends as Bibi, went on to his studies at the Sloan School, co-authoring a nearly 100-page thesis and earning the SM in management in May, 1976." SM is Master of Science in Latin. "Near the top of his class" is unsourced. 2600:6C44:117F:95BE:712D:9586:53F9:76BC (talk) 04:56, 18 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Benjamin Netanyahu's birth name is Benjamin Mileikowsky. This should be stated clearly in the introduction. Not once in the article is their any reference to his original name. 82.1.108.5 (talk) 12:16, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

In the Hamas and Hezbollah section, the sentence "In 2000, families of American victims of the attacks filed a lawsuit against Tlass, Kanaan and iranian Minister of Intelliigence Ali Fallahian" has two typos. "iranian" should be "Iranian" and "Intelliigence" should be "Intelligence". There are also three bare URL references after this sentence, which should likely be fixed to avoid Wikipedia:Link rot.

Not done The thing would be added to the first line, for multiple reason, the most simple is that there it is reserved for other things fundamental to (describing) the subject. If that's what you meant in the first place.ExclusiveEditor Notify Me! 17:26, 21 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Should his criminal status be added?

edit

Should we add the criminal_charges parameter to his infobox? An example is provided in "Blank template with all parameters" at this webpage.Gamerwierdo100 (talk) 04:46, 22 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

While it certainly seems reasonable to include it in the body of the article, for some reason or another, the longstanding documentation at the person infobox is to include it "for convicted criminals only". There should be some consensus-driven amendment of this convention as opposed to overriding it singularly at this article. Chetsford (talk) 08:44, 22 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I believe it should be added to the lead that "he is the first Israeli head of government for whom an arrest warrant has been issued" or with some other wording. Spclmnt (talk) 12:09, 23 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Spclmnt I think this is not really notable enough, take a look at WP:LEAD

My opinion is that Gaza genocide has been and will be one of the foremost defining aspects of Netanyahu's biography, so it might be notable. Spclmnt (talk) 17:38, 23 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Spclmnt If he is convicted the beginning could be likely changed to "Benjamin Netanyahu (born _____) is an Israeli politician, and convicted war criminal..." Gamerwierdo100 (talk) 17:46, 23 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Chetsford I was seeing that precedent being for infobox criminal, is it for the criminal parameter withing a standard person infobox too?
