Merge from Barisal Cadet College

edit

Please merge any relevant content from Barisal Cadet College per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Barisal Cadet College. Thanks. Quarl (talk) 2007-01-02 02:33Z

This should not be deleted as the college is not within the Barisal city. The college has different heritage and history. It would be expanded as per the necessity soon. Please remove the deletion tag. Thanks. -- Hermitage17 13:17, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Gournadi, Barisal

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Barisal's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "bangladesh2":

  • From Barisal City: "Area, Population and Literacy Rate by Paurashava –2001" (PDF). Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics. Retrieved 2009-08-19.
  • From Rajshahi: "Statistical Pocket book 2008, Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics"

Reference named "BangladeshStatPock2008":

Reference named "bangladesh1":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 14:28, 25 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

This has been fixed. The article was copy-pasted from Barisal City instead of being moved, and the infobox changed from "city" to "settlement", orphaning the references. thank you AnomieBOT. Salamurai (talk) 02:01, 18 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

One OK, one failed because link rot set in before the url was archived. --Worldbruce (talk) 16:19, 7 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Article name change

edit

The naming authority, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh changed the official name of the "Barisal" to "Barishal" today to make the spelling similar to Bangla pronunciation.

English Spelling Change

edit

Bangladesh Government decision to change the English Spelling ( Barisal to BARISHAL ) Zahid609639 (talk) 12:43, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please see the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Bangladesh/Archive 7#Placename changes and Wikipedia policy to understand why Wikipedia uses the spellings it does. The government of Bangladesh doesn't dictate what is correct here. If you wish to change the spelling, you may seek a new consensus (preferably at a general location, such as Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Bangladesh, since multiple articles are affected). If you have evidence that the circumstances on which the original consensus was formed have changed, present it there. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:15, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
