Honorific suffix

The bust shown in the article nears the inscription "A Siebe CE". Anyone know what "CE" means? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 21:59, 17 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I would hazard a guess at "Civil Engineer", although a very early version of "Chartered Engineer" might be another possibility. A medal search turned up nothing and List of post-nominal letters (United Kingdom) wasn't much help either. --RexxS (talk) 23:14, 17 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Was he a diver?

edit

He was an engineer and inventor, but is there any source that Augustus Siebe used his invention to dive? I am not sure if he belongs in Category:British underwater divers LienEmpire (talk) 05:25, 27 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
