Tatar?

edit

Is she Tatar? She's in the category of Tatars. I always thought she was Uzbek?

She was born in Tashkent but she's not ethnically Uzbek (I live in Kyrgyzstan so I have at least some authority in Uzbek-spotting ;)). Her page at the Russian Wikipedia doesn't mention her ethnicity. However, a Google search suggests she is indeed Tatar. -- Hux 21:10, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Now with the present developments (see Vladimir Putin), this is going to be debated: her father is Tatar, her mother is ethnic Russian. Which means that at birth she was probably "marked" as Russian. I was unable to find any self-identification, but she did choose to get elected from Kazan' (though of course, there are a lot of ethnic Russians living there), so I think "Tatar" is acceptable, though "ethnic Russian" also is. --Paul Pieniezny (talk) 08:55, 16 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't really see the problem. She's part-Tatar and part-Russian. Say, Barack Obama is part-African and part-European. --158.143.147.179 (talk) 12:47, 10 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Data on equity is probably incorrect. This is simply inconceivable that such a prominent person in such a misere finance level lives and not do anything to it to improve its finan objectives level.CoKabanova.de (talk) 16:20, 15 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Pravda plagiarism

edit

As I was doing some research I found this English language article from Pravda, which borrows a whole paragraph from this article without any citation. Joshdboz (talk) 18:48, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just naughty, if that is what happened. I am afraid it may really be the other way around, since most English articles on Pravda are translations from Russian. The paragraph here may be a copy right violation! Have a look at the end of the article, it says "Translated by Dmitry Sudakov". I went to the Russian side of Pravda, and searched on Kabayeva, but was unable to get the Russian version of that article. Nevertheless, I think we should suppose the worst and start copy-editing that first paragraph... --Paul Pieniezny (talk) 15:00, 19 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
For what it's worth, the edits to the article were made by user:CheeseLover in August 2005, whereas the Pravda article is dated with January 2008. The text itself is somewhat poor English and is likely to be a translation from some unknown source. --Illythr (talk) 14:30, 20 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Language icons

edit

I have changed back to the use of language icons in the external links section. Icons seem to be the method suggested for indicating foreign language links; see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(links)#Non-English-language_sites. --papageno (talk) 04:50, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just A Lot of Rumors

edit

So it's pretty clear from a basic Google search that Alina is Putin's mistress/girlfriend/baby mama. The consistecy of the rumor mongering back to 2008 makes it clear that this is more than run of the mill TMZ stuff, and more a matter of press freedoms in Russia. I found this article from WaPo earlier this month a reasonably decent staring point to expand the mistress section of this article at some point: http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/russians-shrug-at-putin-divorce/2013/06/07/0fc0ef42-cf81-11e2-8845-d970ccb04497_story.html Hiberniantears (talk) 15:49, 22 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Baby son with President Putin, any truth to the rumours?

edit

There are various rumours on the Internet that she has given birth to a son. It is alleged that President Putin might be the father. Is there any evidence that this rumour might have some basis in fact? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.167.121.12 (talk) 11:32, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

No.--Ymblanter (talk) 11:38, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes, there are strong evidence, such as official reports of real esatet being sold from Putin's childhood friends and now billionaires to relatives of Aliva Kabaeva: http://therussiantimes.com/news/89747.html https://navalny.com/p/5075/ https://tvrain.ru/news/rsi_alina_kabaeva_rodila_syna_v_shvejtsarii-383854/ https://tvrain.ru/articles/babooshkas_realty-417812/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:302:D1F9:1430:8137:4E0E:232C:700 (talk) 05:32, 28 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Once a mere gymnast... Then in the Duma... Now director of Russia's largest media corp? This are all fake news with no basis in alternative fact! 1812ahill (talk) 01:27, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

2019: "Now, his longtime love, and rumored wife, Alina Maratovna Kabaeva, has dropped out of sight after reportedly giving birth to twin boys in May" - NYPost. Lots of "reportedly". Zezen (talk) 07:34, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Provided source of her alleged convert is in Russian and after reading it there is no information about her alleged conversion she states that she likes to read bible, well i like reading bible and torah too does that make me Christian-Jew? unless a proper source of her conversion is provided lets keep it professional and factual you can not claim she converted based on "gossips" and or not reliable websites Agulani (talk) 11:00, 26 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Agulani: The source is dead for me: when I try to open it, I get a security warning and it then takes me to the website's home page; I'm not sure how it wouldn't also be dead for you? Anyway, I have since found this archive link to see the previous content and you're right that it does not specify that she is a Christian. Sorry for the faff! Multi-billion dollar corruption

edit

The investigation by the Insider team says that Putin's unrecognized wife is a multimillionaire, and the main cash receipts for her accounts ( (the so-called charitable funds) come from Putin's entourage. The case file also mentions the entourage of Kabaeva herself, whose accounts also receive fabulous money. https://theins.ru/korrupciya/236997 31.23.63.191 (talk) 12:09, 15 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Minor issue

edit

In the political & media section, National Media Group is mentioned in first paragraph and supposedly linked but the link comes back to this article - that is, there is no link to National Media Group. If you search Wikipedia for National Media Group you are re-directed to this article. Given the fact that it is the largest media conglomerate in Putin's Russia, it should have its own article. Although that may be difficult given it's state controlled and the activities of Russian governments hackers. It probably should be mentioned that rhythmic gymnastics is a mostly subjective "sport" and that because of her status as Putin's gf, any wins in Russian venues as well as Russian honors (post-2004) should be viewed as undoubtedly having been politically influenced.174.131.48.89 (talk) 11:14, 3 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Alina's two sons

edit

I opened a new topic because the other ones are dated and refer to rumours. I found a link that seems to say with more weight that Putin has 2 sons. Also referenced in Putin's talk. 136.27.34.4 (talk) 18:33, 4 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
