Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.
If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)
I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.
Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs)
Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

edit- ranking professional snooker tournament - not a big fan of this wording, I think you can omit ranking here, and link it when you mention it later. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:24, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

General
edit- I think the overview/format should really have some sort of mention of the sessions, and how they work. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- I've had a go at this; suggestions for improvement welcome. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 20:10, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Overview doesn't comment on the prior championship. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Added a mention - is more needed? BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 20:10, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Qualifying could do with being split up a bit better in terms of paragraphs. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- I added a few details. The split is now between the last qualifying round, and earlier rounds. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 19:15, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Is it worth mentioning what rank Alex Higgins was, as we commented that he won an event shortly before this. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- 7-4 - might be worth looking through or running the MOS:DASH script. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- For some reason the script didn't pick this one up. Amended. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 18:18, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- eventually knocked out 4–13 - defeated. Knocked out is something that happens in boxing. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Amended. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 18:18, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Could we move the Parrott image to the semi-finals (where he won), and then put in a Steve Davis one for the final? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- red ball with his cue stick - might need some glossary links. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Added links. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 18:18, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- IIRC, didn't Parrott have to do some sort of exhibition as the match finished early? Certainly worth a mention if sources say about it. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- whilst 1989 proved to be the last world final reached by Davis - just say this was the last final for Davis. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Amended. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 18:18, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

I'd be very grateful if you were to complete one of these if you get time. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:21, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

- Happy to pass. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 08:48, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Is this correct?
edit"...Parrott led by 44 points in the twelfth frame after constructing a 52 break, but lost the frame after Davis compiled a 62 break. Parrott went in-off after potting a red in the thirteenth frame, allowing Davis the opportunity to win the frame with a break of 59. In the next frame, Davis missed potting the pink whilst using the rest, and Parrott made it 3–10 with a break of 68."
12th & 13th frame both win by Davis, the next frame should be 14th which was win by Parrott, but 3–10 indicate this should be 13th frame, am I wrong?--Jarodalien (talk) 14:29, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- There is definitely something off. BennyOnTheLoose - I make it 6-2 after the first session, and 14-3 after the second, Davis leading 11-2. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:20, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- Seems we're wrong about the first session. Davis led 6–2 after the first session when we have 5–2. Also there were only 8 frames in the second session, not the 9 we have in the frame-by-frame scores. Nigej (talk) 16:48, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- Downer's Almanac has 5-2 after the first session and 13-3 after the second. I think it should be 3-11 rather than 3-10 in the text, but I'll have a look at other sources. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 17:30, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- The Times, Snooker Scene and Downer's Almanac all have 5-2 and 13-3 after the first and second sessions. Are there any sources that say different? I've corrrected the text about the second session. (3-11 and two remaining frames.) Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 17:38, 9 October 2021 (UTC) Just need to sort out a frame score in the final table now... BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 17:42, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- eg https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=tj1AAAAAIBAJ&sjid=TlkMAAAAIBAJ&pg=6302,226465 and others, but perhaps they're all basically the same source. Nigej (talk) 18:32, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- If the frame scores are correct, the "six balls in the first four frames" must relate to frame 8 to 11, confirming the 7 frame first session. Nigej (talk) 18:37, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- That looks right now, great work everyone, and thanks for bringing this to our attention Jarodalien Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:01, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- Another thing: "Paddy Browne was 5–4 ahead of Willie Thorne after their first session, but then lost five successive frames as Thorne progressed 10–5." Shouldn't be "six successive frames"?--Jarodalien (talk) 03:09, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, it should. I've amended this. Thanks again, Jarodalien. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 07:28, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- No problem, found this only because I'm translating this article to Chinese here, the 7th article I translated about Snooker.--Jarodalien (talk) 07:44, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, it should. I've amended this. Thanks again, Jarodalien. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 07:28, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
Another inconsistency to check
editIn the "Tournament summary" section, the Tony Wilson v Mannie Francisco score is given as 10–6. The "Qualifying" results table gives 10–5. The summary at the top of this Talk page also gives 10–5. Could anybody with the relevant issue of Snooker Scene pls check which is correct? Thanks.
