  • 14:3114:31, 21 December 2024 diff hist −3 Flames of Freedom Strategy layer: Writing "It's James Bond but all you do as an agent is part of a math puzzle" would just lead to reasonable follow-up questions, such as "What kind of math puzzle?" and "What are you talking about?" I stand by the footnotes too. A game with 10s hrs playtime that skips to the endgame w/o "are you sure?" when you press A is bananas, and the approach of limiting the player's movement is the exact opposite of what's been done for the last ~25 years. Peculiarities worth noting.
  • 14:2014:20, 21 December 2024 diff hist 2,578 Flames of Freedom Gameplay: Very finicky, but good for the article and not OR or GAMEGUIDE. When a game is conventional, we sum up much of what needs to be said about it with "This game is a platformer." Or "This game is a RTS." (This is against the video game Manual of Style, which requires writing for no prior knowledge of gaming. We do it anyway.) This works the other way round, too: when a game's bonkers we need more space to adequately describe what's up, and can rely less on conventions' shorthand.

Trimmed the part about the nuclear attack (e.g. needn't mention what blinds Danny) but readded in shortened form McCoy's part as I'm told it's important to his characterization (not to mention the character's only characterization we give in this summary). The word count about the nuclear attack increases by 5, but this part of the summary is left in better shape.

However, if length's a factor, the first order of business is to say things more tersely, no downside in that. Also removed the mention about dispatch of nuclear weapons, as AIUI that only comes up as a mention of the Brits pensive about NATO positioning Pershing-2s and cruise missiles in Europe, which is background to the strategic situation but not part of the whole thing cooking off.

In theory this could be a neutral statement about a curious quirk of biology; in practice it'll make people think or wonder about Khelif, and per the note on records, has no basis to do so.

  • 00:4100:41, 11 June 2024 diff hist 77 Paul Gosar attacking AOC -> killing AOC. Now please strap in, this is where the nitpicking comes. It's an important distinction that Gosar's video showed him killing, not just attacking a colleague. But if we write "killing a character with AOC's face", readers'll think of something far worse than the video (which was already bad enough to get him censured & kicked off committees). And if we writer "killing a monster with AOC's face" they'll think of a giant boar or something. So giant it is.
