Club career

edit

Early years

edit

Cangiano was born in Naples, Italy, and started playing football for Sicilian club Ragusa as a youth player before being discovered by Bruno Conti who brought him to Roma's youth academy in 2010.[2][3][4][5]

Bologna

edit

Cangiano joined Bologna in July 2019, signing a five-year contract. The club paid a reported fee of €1.5 million plus bonuses, with Roma holding a 30% resell clause.[6] He made his professional debut on 22 June 2020, coming on for Nicola Sansone in a 2–0 home loss to Juventus.[3][7]

Loans

edit

On 23 September 2020, he joined Serie B club Ascoli on loan.[8][5] He made his debut for the club three days later, starting in a 1–1 away draw against Brescia.[9] On 4 January 2021, Cangiano scored his first professional goal in a 2–1 Serie B victory against Reggina.[10]

On 29 January 2022, he was loaned to Crotone until 30 June 2022.[11]

On 15 July 2022, Cangiano joined Bari on loan.[12] Having not found regular game time in Apulia, he was re-called on 11 January 2023 by Bologna and subsequently joined Eredivisie side Fortuna Sittard on another loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy and one to extend the deal for another year.[13]

On 10 August 2023, he joined Serie C side Pescara on loan with an option to buy.[14] One year later, on 2 August 2024, his loan was extended for another season, with the option to buy becoming an obligation if specific conditions were met.[15]
