| Description |
English: Diagram featuring the multiple size estimations of several species within the genus of large lamniform shark Ptychodus, in comparison with a ~1.8 m (5.9 ft) tall human. The overall body shapes depicted here, as well as size estimations, are based on Vullo et al. 2024. The authors described several specimens adding to the knowledge of the genus in terms of body plan and phylogenetic relationships. According to this paper, species of Ptychodus are divived by tooth morphology: uncuspidate species and cuspidate species, noting a conspicious difference in sizes.[1]
