Summary

Description

"Proposed arcade railway--Under Broadway, view near Wall Street", a circa 1868 lithograph for a proposal for a elevated railway which, although it passed the legislature several times, was vetoed by the governor, and eventually was replaced by the current New York subway system.. Restoration notes

A fairly lengthy but (overall) straightforward restoration. Some scratches and other damage, a rather awkward border, staining, and such. I think this should be right, but do note that I've seen examples of this that have a very reddish, sunset tone in the sky. I suppose that's possible, but the scan seemed to indicate these colours as much more likely. Of course, it may be there was more than one state of this printing.

Anyway, as I said, fairly straightforwards; removed dust, dirt, some minor printing errors, and tried to get the colours to what they would've been when new. Think I did fairly well.

As a pre-1923 U.S. Work, the original is in public domain. However, as the restoration is somewhat extensive, it is released under the following minimal license, as restorations involve quite a bit of artistic judgement, and Britain, where I live, offers very low bars to gaining a new copyright. I do not wish to release my work into the Public Domain, however, you may choose one of the following two hopefully pretty minimal licenses.
