English: Pictured, Waves crash over HMS Lancaster's bow as she transits along Norway's coastline.
On 26th March 2021, HMS Lancaster started her transit south from Norway having been exercising with the Norwegian Frigate THNoMS Thor Heyerdahl.
During the transit south down the the Norwegian coastline she encountered high seas which made for some impressive wave formations crashing over her bow.
The Type 23 Frigate from HMNB Portsmouth will conduct a short stint of maritime security patrols around the UK coastline before taking over duties as the Fleet Ready Escort Ship.
All the ships in the Type 23 class are named after Dukes, in this case, the Duke of Lancaster.
HMS Lancaster recently had a major refit and some of her new equipment includes a new Artisan 3D radar and vastly-improved air-defence capabilities provided by Sea Ceptor, replacing Sea Wolf missiles which only possess about half the Sea Ceptor’s range.
The hull was cleaned and coated with anti-fouling paint to prevent marine life attaching itself, the main 4.5in gun serviced, engines and machinery overhauled, new systems installed, and the bridge, messes and other communal areas revamped.
