Summary

Description
English: Here is the calligraphy Fukushima Roshi did of the characters for our temple Kusoudo at Empty Nest Zendo.

He named the temple Ku for vast/empty (like sky) Sou=nest, do=way (like tao)

He did this understanding that Empty Nest had a double meaning in English (home left by children, and the empty bird’s nest). The homonym he created with double meaning (kusoudo), sounds like the empty “sodo” or the empty monk’s hall. The sodo being the place where monk’s train. He was a very clever man.
