Description
English: Aerial view of Cooper Lake on the South Sulphur River in Delta County, Texas, USA. The lake and dam are located approximately 13 miles (20 km) north of Sulphur Springs, Texas. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed the dam in 1991 for flood control and water supply. The lake was renamed Jim Chapman Lake in 1998 by order of President Clinton in honor of the local senator. However, it is still known more commonly by the old name, Cooper Lake.
