The map shows (1) co-occurrence of wildlife elements (22 taxa), whose names are reconstructible to proto-Kartvelian names (black areas), implying the Kartvelian homeland, (2) the past societies: HG = Hunter-gatherers; N = Neolithic societies; CA = Copper Age societies; BA = Bronze Age societies; IA = Iron Age societies (colored areas), and (3) the major rivers whose watersheds the extant Kartvelian languages evolved from (colored lines). The acronym of KBP, denoting “Before Present”, stands for 1000 years before 1 January 1950. |
