Production
editWorld of Wonder, the production company behind RuPaul's Drag Race, posted three casting calls on social media on 8 August 2022.[1][2] The casting calls were for new potential Drag Race adaptations in Brazil, Germany, and Mexico.[3][4] The deadline for the potential competitors was set for 26 August, with the deadline for audition video submission set for 9 September 2022.[5] Many Drag Race fans called for Valentina or Lolita Banana to host the show.[6][7]

On 7 May 2023, a teaser was revealed at the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards, announcing that the series would premiere in 2023.[11] Rolling Stone announced that Valentina and Lolita Banana would host the first season.[12] Oscar Madrazo was also confirmed to be on the judging panel.[13]
Eleven contestants were announced on 24 May 2023.[14] Participants include La Más Draga alumns Margaret Y Ya and Gala Varo, the latter participating in the second season of the series as part of the Red Rabbit Duo.
