Grady Shane Thomas (born June 3, 1979), professionally known as Stryvelle Gray[1], is an African American entrepreneur, recording artist, producer, and author.[1] Known for his contributions to the entertainment industry[1], Thomas has released numerous albums and singles through his independent labels, Graysland S.G. Entertainment and Stryvelle Gray's.[1] He is also the author of an upcoming autobiography, The Ordained: The Lifestory of Stryvelle Gray.
Early life and education
editThomas was born on June 3, 1979, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Mary Ida Thomas and Charles Thomas Sr. He grew up in the 3rd Ward section of Houston, Texas, and later moved to the Hiram Clarke neighborhood in Houston. He is one of five siblings, with two sisters, Sharona and Jamie, and two brothers, Wendel and Charles.
Thomas began writing raps at the age of 12, drawing inspiration from his upbringing and the culture surrounding him. He attended Aston Academy, where he earned his high school diploma.
Career
editThomas entered the music scene in 2011 with his debut project Welcome to the United States of America. He followed this with Graysland: The Book of Grady Thomas and the sequel, Welcome to the United States of America Volumes 1 and 2, in 2012. [2] After a brief hiatus, he released It Takes Royal to Spell Royalty in 2014[2], showcasing his evolving artistry and production skills. To celebrate three years of his independent music ventures, Thomas compiled his most popular tracks into Then There Was the 3rd Year, a retrospective album highlighting his early career.[3][2]
In addition to his music, Thomas is the founder and president of two entertainment labels, Graysland S.G. Entertainment and Stryvelle Gray's, which have served as platforms for his work and collaborations with other artists. [3] Thomas is also an author, with an autobiography titled The Ordained: The Lifestory of Stryvelle Gray set for release. [3][2]
