1,2-Dichlorobut-3-ene is an organochlorine compounds that has the chemical formula C₄H₆Cl₂ or CH₂Cl-CHCl-CH=CH₂. It is produced on large scale as a precursor of chloroprene.

Production and chloroprene preparation

Chlorine is added to butadiene give a mixture of 1,4- and 1,2-dichlorobut-3-ene. Isomerization then gives pure 1,2-dichlorobutene. Dehydrochlorination gives chloroprene.
