Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board

Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board is an autonomous set up as per Andhra Pradesh Port Policy 2015, for governing and integrated monitoring of all ports in Andhra Pradesh and ensuring their development along with the confidence of stakeholders. The board will have its head office located in Vishakapatnam with the chairman being nominated by the State Government.

Background

Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board was set up in 2019[1] as an autonomous body[2] was set up for governing the planning,development and monitoring of ports of Andhra Pradesh.[3][4]

Objective

Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board was setup with following objectives[5][6][7]

  • Development of ports in the state and projects related to ship building.
  • Improvements in connectivity with hinterlands connected to the ports.
  • Growth for industrialisation of cities connected to ports.

Office and Administration

Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board will have the headquarter in Vishakapatnam and the chairman of the board will be nominated by the Andhra Pradesh Government.[8]

Chairman and Members

Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board will have a Chairman,who is nominated by State Government and the Vice Chairman will be Principal Secretary in Industries and Ports. Members of the board will include,Secretaries of Fisheries,Finance,members appointed from the private ports in the state,Central Government's shipping ministry,representative from Central Board of Excise and Customs and any other State Government nominated secretary. The member secretary of the board will be designated as Chief Executive officer and will also consist of four special invitees who will be representatives from head of coastal police and members from Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy and Industry Associations.
