The 2015–16 Washington Capitals season was the 42nd season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 11, 1974.[2] The season began its regular games on October 10, 2015, against the New Jersey Devils.[3] This was the first of five consecutive Metropolitan Division titles for the Capitals.
