VISTA’s will support the Early College Initiative as well as other College & Career Readiness events/activities through capacity building; strengthening & expanding complex-area & cross sector partnership; engaging community stakeholders; & educating students & the general public on empowerment through higher education & degree credentials relevant to the needs of the workforce. VISTA’s will support the focus on statewide workforce development strategies. VISTA’s will assist in implementing the project & build capacity through education, community forums, social media & published materials, they will support the focused efforts on strengthening and expanding college and career partnerships, further engaging the community, & educating the public to give students a path out of poverty.

Member Duties : The VISTA College and Career Readiness positions will assist in college & career outreach to students and support events which engage the broader network of community members with increasing the target population (underserved) participating in Early College. The VISTA College and Career Readiness positions will support communications and outreach to promote Early College courses/programs as well as other college & career initiatives/events through school newsletters, social media & school websites. The VISTA College and Career Readiness positions will assist to develop and refine procedures for Early College recruitment, academic advising, application, and registration to support the target population. The VISTA will also have open lines of communication with the Waipahu High School Early College Director/Coordinators to contribute to Early College research efforts as well as grant reports.
