Joanne Pauley Search has been retained by an established and well-respected family office and registered investment advisor. Our Client is currently a $3 billion family office with approximately 35 dedicated professionals and provides highly personalized advice and services to suit the needs of the clients, including Investment Management, Wealth Planning and Administrative Services.


THE ROLE: Vice President, Wealth Management

Our Client seeks to hire a best-in-class Wealth Management professional with a seasoned understanding of the industry’s best practices in Private Wealth Management. The Vice President, Wealth Management, a new position, is a hybrid role and s/he will eventually work at the new Orange County, California office three to four days per week with the remainder working remotely. Working out of the downtown Los Angeles headquarters is also an option. This new professional will be a key resource, working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, overseeing all of Our Client’s Wealth Management and investor communications. He or she will work closely with the President and Chief Financial Officer and will report to directly to the CFO.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Responsible for family office’s Wealth Management function (e.g., financial planning, cash flow, cash management, etc.).
  • Prepare customized analysis of wealth management issues.
  • Oversee development and monitoring of financial planning for the single family office client base.
  • Coordinate with internal and external experts on a wide range of issues including estate planning, tax, accounting, legal and insurance.
  • Help manage complex projects involving multiple disciplines (e.g., tax, estate planning, etc.).
  • Respond to client queries.
  • Assist with special projects and management initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of family office trends and share insight gained from clients with colleagues and senior leadership to position Our Client for success.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members, including investment, operations, and legal and compliance.


CANDIDATE PROFILE & REQUIREMENTS


  • At least seven or more years of relevant industry experience: wealth management, financial planning for high-net-worth clients at a single or multi-family office or private wealth management firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree (JD, MBA) in preferred.
  • CFA, CPA or CFP is highly desired.
  • Entrepreneurial-minded: a self-starter who excels in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting, tax and family wealth management issues. Familiarity with portfolio accounting systems.
  • Experience maintaining a strong team orientation to achieve broader client service goals and accountable to deadlines and clients.
  • Proven presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to clients, including significant experience with Excel and PowerPoint.

·     Strong ties to, and a network in, Southern California is a plus.

·    Ability to fit in with our Client’s culture and clearly represent our Client in the family office community and marketplace.


Compensation will be competitive with the marketplace and be comprised of a Base Salary and a Performance Based Bonus, outstanding health care benefits and other long term incentive benefits.
