Special Olympics Michigan AmeriCorps is a health-focused AmeriCorps program with multiple service sites throughout the state of Michigan. Members lead various health initiatives to address health disparities for people with intellectual disabilities and the community. Some member duties include leading health and fitness programming, planning family engagement health events, planning and leading developmental sports practices, expanding the reach of the SOMI Unified Champion Schools initiatives, working with local school systems to provide support and programming, engaging volunteers, spreading awareness of key mental health information, and participating in team meetings and service projects. We offer a competitive living allowance, an Education Award for education costs and qualified student loans, student loan forbearance, student loan interest accrual payments, and access to professional training and development.
