JOB TITLE: Marketing Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Strategic Partnerships

 

SALARY RANGE: $60,000 - $65,000

 

STATUS: Full-time exempt, generous benefits package, vacation/PTO based on policy.

Special Olympics Oregon provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children, youth, and adults living with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.  

 

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

Special Olympics Oregon is seeking a passionate and driven Marketing Manager to join our dynamic team. As a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive community. The Marketing Manager will play a pivotal role in amplifying our mission, driving engagement, and increasing awareness of our programs and events across Oregon.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Content Creation: Develop compelling and engaging content for various marketing channels, including social media, website, email newsletters, and print materials. Content should effectively communicate the impact of our programs, share athlete stories, and promote upcoming events.
  2. Social Media Management: Manage all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) to increase followers, engagement, and brand visibility. Create social media calendars, schedule posts, and monitor metrics to track performance and optimize content strategy.
  3. Digital Marketing: Implement digital marketing campaigns to reach target audiences and drive participation in Special Olympics Oregon events and fundraising initiatives. This includes managing email marketing campaigns and online advertising efforts.
  4. Event Promotion: Collaborate with the Events Team to develop marketing plans for Special Olympics Oregon events, including fundraisers, competitions, and community outreach activities. Create promotional materials, coordinate outreach efforts, and leverage media partnerships to maximize event attendance and impact.
  5. Graphic Design: Produce visually appealing graphics and promotional materials using design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva. Ensure all marketing collateral aligns with Special Olympics Oregon branding guidelines and effectively communicates key messages.
  6. Analytics and Reporting: Track key performance metrics for marketing initiatives and campaigns. Generate regular reports to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven recommendations for optimization.
  7. Brand Compliance: Help review content documents across all departments and Local Programs for relevancy, consistency, and brand conformity.

 

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field; or 4 years in related work experience.
  • 2 years of experience in marketing, preferably in the non-profit sector or with event-based organizations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and stories.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite & Canva) and familiarity with social media management tools.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Highly organized with excellent project management skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of disability rights and advocacy issues is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Minimum 3 days per week in the office is required.
  • Fast paced, with significant people interaction.
  • Though a car is not a requirement for this position, there may be occasional travel throughout the state of Oregon, which can involve carpooling with co-workers
  • May be required to work some evenings and weekends throughout the year.
  • Must pass pre-employment screening.


WORK ENVIRONMENT 

This position operates on a hybrid model in a professional office environment in Beaverton, OR.  Typical work hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility in hours as approved by managers. In addition to working office hours, staff are required to work events that are in their scope as well as assist at events out of their scope as needed – with most events falling on weekends or evenings. Attire should be appropriate for the activity – we range from sporty to business and ask that our staff, regardless of occasion, are always dressed appropriately to represent the organization in a professional manner.
