Job Summary
Just Play is seeking a Director of Consumer and Commercial Insights. As the Director of Consumer and Commercial Insights, you will lead a dynamic function in gathering and analyzing data to provide actionable insights, better yet foresights, to enhance and improve the overall business. To be successful, you must obsess over data and generate the deepest and most intimate understanding of our end consumer (Mom/Dad and Son/Daughter) as well as our retailer customers. With the highest scientific rigor, you must have an unwavering desire to understand all of the “whys” and “hows.” And, perhaps more importantly, know how to simply communicate that to teams across the organization along with specific actions they should consider and take. This position will be instrumental in driving product development, inform marketing strategies, and contribute to the long-term strategic planning process
Principal Responsibilities
Lead the consumer and commercial insights function in designing and executing research projects to gather qualitative and quantitative data on consumer behavior, preferences, and industry trends.
Collaborate closely with product development teams to understand product requirements, identify opportunities for innovation, and guide product roadmaps based on consumer and commercial insights.
Utilize a variety of methodologies, including surveys, focus groups, interviews, ethnographic studies, and data analytics, to uncover actionable insights that inform product development and marketing strategies.
Analyze point-of-sale (POS) and industry data to identify market trends, competitive dynamics, and opportunities for growth, and translate these insights into actionable recommendations for product, sales and marketing teams.
Translate complex data into compelling stories and presentations that effectively communicate key findings and recommendations to senior leadership, product teams, sales and marketing teams and our retail partners
Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in consumer and commercial research and incorporate them into the company's approach.
Manage relationships with external research partners, vendors, and agencies to augment internal capabilities and resources.
Foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and continuous learning.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in marketing, psychology, sociology, market research, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience with a proven track record of delivering actionable insights that drive product, sale, and marketing strategies
Advanced in all Microsoft Office programs: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
Excellent written and verbal communication and project management skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, conduct deep analysis, and draw actionable insights and synthesize them clearly and simply
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Proficiency in research methodologies, statistical analysis, and data visualization tools
Proven ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback and input from multiple stakeholders
Advanced collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Travel as needed to our Los Angeles, CA office
Fluency in English (both written and verbal)
