Duties

  • Serves as the Chief of Staff to the Director and Deputy Director, Task Force Support Office (TFSO) located in the National Capital Region (NCR).
  • Provides specialized Continuity of Operations (COOP) and Mission Assurance (MA) support to specified organizations under all conditions.
  • Conducts cross cutting, coordinated organizational reviews including missions and functions, strategic planning linking organizational performance and results-oriented management initiatives, COOP.
  • Conducts special studies and analysis. In response to tasking's from the Director or Deputy Director, the incumbent performs intensive reviews and studies of the TFSO mission areas that are of critical interest and significance.
  • Coordinates with Department of Defense (DoD) senior officials and other senior officials on major and sensitive issues.
  • Provides organizational perspective to ensure proper coordination to identify and direct necessary corrective actions for programs and ensures that successes and lessons learned are recognized and shared with other tenant commands.

  • This is a Mission Essential (ME) position. The incumbent may be required to report to work in the event of a natural disaster, inclement weather, or crisis.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Chief of Staff, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-15 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Creditable specialized experience includes: Demonstrated excellence in coordinating experience with the Continuity of Operations (COOP) to include policy formulation and implementation, domestic policy process, interaction, bureaucratic politics, and interaction between strategy and the security environment. Ability to brief, provide credible advice to, and interact with high-ranking civilian personnel, or their senior staffs. Expert knowledge in and application of a wide range of planning, analytical, organizational, evaluation methods and techniques to identify, characterize, assess and advise on TFSO opportunities, programs, issues, and initiatives.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
