The International Foundation Year at the University of Salford, a campus-based, industry-focused university in Greater Manchester, is seeking two Senior Subject and Skills Tutor in Business and/or Economics to enhance our International Foundation Year (IFY) programme and contribute to the academic success of our international students.

The International Foundation Year is based in Salford Languages, a core professional services unit within the University of Salford, and is dedicated to delivering exceptional pre-undergraduate programmes for international students. We are ranked in the top 10% of university language centres in the UK [1].

About The Role

As a Senior Economics, Business, and Skills Tutor in Salford Languages, you will play a pivotal role in module development and preparing and delivering Level 3 teaching (equivalent to A-level) in Economics and Business, providing academic and pastoral support, and engaging in quality assurance. You will also assume senior responsibilities, such as module or project leadership, programme development, and team management. Full-time and part-time options are available.

About You

You should have experience of teaching Economics and/or Business to international students at Level 3 (equivalent to A-level). You should be dedicated to helping international students who do not have any experience of the UK education or university system to achieve their goals while providing them with a great experience at the same time. You will be aware of cultural and intercultural sensitivities and able to teach and improve students who often do not have high levels of English.

We’re looking for tutors with a professional attitude who are good at working as effective team members so you’ll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to use technology effectively for teaching and administrative purposes. Having English teaching qualifications at TEFLQ level would be advantageous. You will be, or be willing to be, DBS-checked.
