Our Water Quality and Environment team have an opportunity for you to join as a River Analyst.

In your new role, you’ll be responsible for analyzing and developing river data to provide insights on performance. This entails using a variety of ESRI products such as GIS desktop or ArcGis online and associated tools to develop dashboards and producing maps to support operational teams.

Additionally, you'll support media inquiries by delivering reliable, accurate, and comprehensive data. Your role also involves sharing river insights in a meaningful way to various audiences, including front-line operational teams, communications teams, regulators, and customers.

Moreover, you'll create robust data packs for business communication cells to foster understanding and improvement of our rivers. Lastly, it's essential to document all process and data changes, ensuring accurate compliance and assurance documentation is well maintained.

Some Of Your Other Key Accountabilities Will Include

  • Support the River Rangers assessing water quality, geo-locational and customer experience data.
  • Effectively work with key teams across the business (including Strategy, Catchment and Biodiversity, Asset strategy etc) to ensure that there is a clean and central hub for environmental data especially for River insights.
  • Ensure effective operation of River Protection team processes including compiling reports, cleaning and analysing data from across the business and from other sources.
  • Support the development and maintenance of consistent data, which has been assured with appropriate documentation written such as Process Design Templates (PDTs).
  • Responsible for regular RNAG data tracking, undertaking assurance checks and ensuring that any data or media requests are managed in a timely manner.
  • Development of automating processes such as RNAG data collection and the development of RNAG visualisations for the business.
  • Supporting the oversight and operational checks required to maintain the Get River Positive website and content including the Event Duration Monitoring map liaising with operational teams as required.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

In order to be successful in this role, it is expected that you will have a strong understanding and knowledge of the environment, rivers, water quality, and/or waste assets, networks, or water resources.

Extensive experience with GIS is critical to the roe alongside the ability to develop reports for a variety of audiences.

Advanced skills in Excel and Word, including the ability to create pivot tables and write formulas such as LOOKUPs, are also essential.

Experience with Microsoft platform development including the use of APIs, data transformation, and relational databases would be a nice to have.

You should also be experienced in balancing proactive and reactive work to ensure timely delivery of data requests, as well as collaborating with and influencing stakeholders effectively at all organizational levels. Prioritizing, planning, and delivering outputs to timescales should be second nature to you, and you should feel comfortable handling a variety of data sets at differing levels of 'tidiness'.
