Our client, a retail conglomerate is seeking a skilled Vice President of DC and Logistics to join their team!


Vice President of Distribution Center & Logistics

Location: Onsite in Buena Park, 5 days a week

Salary: $160,000 - $200,000

Language Skills: Proficiency in Mandarin is a significant advantage but not mandatory

Preferred Background: Experience in offline retail or grocery

Core Expertise: Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, and handling dry, cool, and frozen goods


Position Overview: The VP of DC & Logistics will report to the CEO and will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of our distribution and logistics operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient movement of goods across our supply chain, optimizing processes, and maintaining high service levels to support company growth and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supply Chain and Network Optimization: Enhance the efficiency of our distribution network and supply chain processes, focusing on cost reduction and service level improvement. Optimize the locations and capacities of our distribution centers and warehouses while implementing best practices in inventory management, demand forecasting, and order fulfillment.
  • Logistics Coordination: Manage transportation activities, including the selection of carriers and route optimization. Ensure timely deliveries to retail locations while minimizing transportation costs and transit times.
  • Warehouse Operations: Oversee all aspects of warehouse operations from receiving to shipping. Implement strategies to maximize space utilization, improve labor productivity, and ensure order accuracy.
  • Inventory Management: Develop and implement inventory control procedures to optimize stock levels and reduce carrying costs. Use advanced inventory management systems to track stock movement and identify slow-moving or obsolete items.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with purchasing, sales, and finance teams to align logistics activities with business goals. Provide logistics expertise for new product launches, promotions, and seasonal demand variations.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure product accuracy and integrity throughout the supply chain. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and exceed customer expectations.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks. Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance logistics performance, streamline processes, and reduce costs. Implement methodologies such as lean principles and Six Sigma to optimize workflows.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards in logistics, transportation, and warehousing. Stay updated on regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Customer Service: Focus on customer satisfaction in all logistics operations. Ensure on-time delivery, order accuracy, and high product quality. Address and resolve customer inquiries and complaints promptly.
  • Team Development: Lead and develop a high-performing logistics team. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning through coaching, training, and performance feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 7-10 years in logistics and distribution management, preferably in retail or FMCG industries.
  • Leadership & Organizational Skills: Strong leadership skills with experience managing large teams and multiple distribution centers. Excellent organizational skills, capable of handling multiple priorities and projects.
  • Strategic Thinking & Technical Skills: Proven ability to develop and implement logistics strategies. Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems, Transportation Management Systems, and data analytics tools.
  • Communication & Problem-Solving: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for making data-driven decisions.
