The job of After School Sport Coach is one of the most important at our company because it’s working directly with our most important clients, which are our students. You will be on the front line of our work, supporting students in their social-emotional learning, learn new skills, and have fun after school.

This unique position will serve as a sports coach, focus on managing teams, and attend games, during the respective season. The description should reflect the job description which will be coaching sports and attending games, this one is too general and doesn't state anything about sports.

This position is part-time, and non-exempt. The standard after school schedule will be Monday Friday from 2 pm 6 pm, but you must be available to work outside of these hours to accommodate modified days and gameday events (i.e., Saturday games).

Essential Functions

  • Lead and inspire teams, each dedicated to a specific grade level, fostering a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship.
  • Design and execute activities that enhance students' skills, teamwork, and understanding of the sport.
  • Develop game plans and strategies tailored to each grade level, focusing on fair play, inclusivity, competition, and sports etiquette.
  • Provide personalized coaching and feedback to students, helping them improve their techniques and reach their full potential.
  • Inspire students to embrace challenges, set goals, and demonstrate resilience both on and off the field.
  • Collaborate with the larger team to organize gameday events and ensure their smooth execution, including logistical arrangements and participant engagement.
  • Infuse coaching moments with character-building lessons, emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect.
  • Prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants during practices, games, and other program activities.

To Qualify For This Position, You Will Need

  • At least one year of experience working in after-school programs and coaching sports, especially in ethnically and culturally diverse communities.
  • To be a good communicator, able to talk to both kids and parents comfortably.
  • Your official or unofficial college transcripts that confirm you have 48 college credit units completed OR you take and pass an academic proficiency exam.
  • To be a problem solver, a team player, and a good listener.
  • You must get a TB test (and provide proof that it is negative), pass a Live Scan background check, and have a current vaccination for Covid 19.
  • You will be required to take CPR and first aid training or provide certification that you have been certified within 12 months.
  • If you are an English-Spanish bilingual speaker, your resume will stand out!
