We are looking for Nurse Practitioners to play an important role at AndHealth as we launch a new infectious disease program. A Nurse Practitioner’s responsibilities include helping with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations. They know there is no single solution when it comes to patient care. What You’ll Do In The Role

  • Provide HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to persons at risk for HIV infection
  • Provide primary care and HIV specialty care for patients living with HIV infection/AIDS
  • Provide screening and treatment for Hepatitis C and Hepatitis B
  • Provide direct services to patients with the support of the Community Engagement Specialist
  • Performs specialized assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services for persons presenting for STI screening and treatment utilizing appropriate protocols and guidelines
  • Elicits health histories related to sexual activity and presenting symptoms (i.e., previous STI's, HIV status, potential exposure to STI through sexual contact, pregnancy, contraceptive history, allergies, contraindications to treatment, etc.)
  • Orders appropriate immunizations
  • Performs one-on-one education on specific communicable diseases to persons at high-risk for infections
  • Provides information to patients regarding Hepatitis C and instructions regarding medication treatment
  • Meets with persons at risk for HIV infection to assess for the appropriateness of starting/continuing PrEP; prescribes PrEP for eligible persons; meets with those on PrEP to review labs and update prescription
  • Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications
  • Attends and presents case discussion with physicians and other providers
  • By working closely with the entire Medical Staff, the APRN ensures patients experience not only timely and efficient medical treatment but also the highest quality of customer service
  • Complete HIV, Hep-C, and STD screenings including oral and rectal swabs
  • Diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, Hepatitis C and related conditions
  • Electronically reviews and authorizes prescription refills (when appropriate) in a timely fashion
  • Provide coordinated, continuous and culturally competent primary health care to clients that span the health continuum through mutual goal setting and planning delivery of care.
  • Discuss HIV/HCV/STI prevention and treatment information with all clients
  • Screens for substance abuse, tobacco use, intimate partner violence, immunization status, nutrition and exercise as necessary and initiates appropriate interventions

Education & Licensure Requirements:

  • Graduate of a certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Ohio License (NP/PA), required. Willingness to obtain licenses in other states, as required
  • AAHIV Specialist certification, preferred

Other Skills or Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in primary care, STI, or HIV care
  • Experience treating patients living with Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B and HIV/AIDS, required
  • Family or Adult Medicine Practice experience, preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A self-starter with the ability to multi-task
  • Cooperates as a team member
  • Possesses problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated knowledge along with the ability to work within an LGBT-friendly, multicultural and diverse population is required

  • (PPD) TB Skin Test - Proof of negative TB skin test within the last 12 months.
  • (MMR) Measles, Mumps and Rubella or A Blood Titer proving immunity.
  • Varicella - (2) documented doses or A Blood Titer proving.
  • Hep B3 Series.
  • (Flu) Influenza-required.
  • COVID Vaccine.
  • Additional health requirements may also be required.
